According to the statement, this was revealed on Friday during a speech given by His Royal Highness, Eze C.O. Nnajiemere (Eze Udo II of Amurie Omanze), in his palace.

Insisting that it is even an affront to the 21st century global social revolutions order, Eze Nnajiemere bemoaned that for the past three years, the community has been drawn into needless conflicts and skirmishes over whether to abolish these discriminatory cultural inhibitions known as a stone-aged ignorantly adopted man’s inhumanity to fellow man.

He also mentioned how the community organized, formed, and launched an Abolition Committee on August 14, 2020, in his Palace of Peace, in cooperation with the Eze-in-council, which was then headed by the honorable Chief Nze Obinna Greg Madu.

Eze Nnajiemere noted that all of the village heads, kindred chairmen and their executives, all of the Town Union Exco members, Ndi Nze na Ozo, the Town Union women’s wing, all of the community’s religious leaders and clergy, the Youth wing of every village in Amurie Omanze, representatives from the Abroad Union, and other dignitaries were present to witness the historic resolution.

He stated that all of them have signed the abrogation form, enabling the Committee to begin working on the project.

He states, “However, a document that originated originally described the terms of reference to the Committee as well as the decisions made by the Eze, Eze-in-council, Ndi Nze na Ozo, the President General (PG), and the village heads in agreement to abrogate, abolish the obnoxious caste system, which they described as very reprehensible, barbaric, and absurd, was duly signed by all concerned.”

“The Committee took full action with groups, individuals, and village-to-village consultation/awareness Campaign, prompting them to make recommendations on the necessity for the community to adopt the recommendation for the Abolition and make a comprehensive, well-detailed, and articulate report to the Palace,” he said.

“As of today, a date has been set for the public pronouncement of the abrogation of the obnoxious caste system (Osu/Ume/Ohu/Diala),” the Royal Father stated. The event of abrogation is scheduled for January 4, 2024.

“To be honest, only the spiritually inclined can understand the requirement and ultimate acceptance of a specific date for the abolition of all caste systems in Amurie.”
