The Kwara Fire Service advises against placing stores underneath power lines

Residents of the state have been cautioned against placing homes or businesses beneath transmission lines by Prince Folade John Olumuyiwa, Director of the Kwara State Fire Service.

In response to a fire disaster in Ilorin, the state capital, which was brought on by a disconnected 33 KVA transmission line, he issued the warning.

The incident happened on Tuesday at around two in the morning at the Peak Hotel junction, next to the Kwara State Rural Electrification Board in the Ita-Alamu neighborhood of Ilorin, Ilorin South Local Government Area, in the state capital, according to Hassan Adekunle, spokesman for the state fire department in Ilorin.

The fire, which was started by a disconnected 33KV transmission line and consumed six metal kiosks and two stores, was successfully put out by our firefighters as soon as they arrived, he continued.
