Four secondary school students are imprisoned for allegedly gang-raping a mentally challenged 16-year-old girl in Oyo.

On Tuesday, March 21, a Family Court in Iyaganku ordered the remand of four students from Eleyele Secondary School in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly raping a female schoolmate who is mentally challenged.
The police charged the minor defendants with conspiracy and unlawful sexual intercourse.

Inspector Folake Ewe, the Police Prosecutor, told the court that the students allegedly conspired to defile a 16-year-old female student who is mentally challenged between January and March 15.

She claimed the offense violated Section 516 of the Criminal Code and Section 34 of the Oyo State Child Rights Law 2006.

Mrs Sumbo Adetuyibi, the Chief Magistrate, did not hear their case.

Because of a lack of jurisdiction.

If the juvenile correctional facility in Ijokodo, Ibadan, does not accept them, Adetuyibi ordered that they be remanded in the Abolongo Correctional Facility.
