The government of Ogun State is planning to take temporary measures to repair roads damaged by the recent rainy season.
As a result, the state Ministry of Works will shortly begin extensive road repairs throughout the state.
This was revealed on Thursday by Engr. Ade Akinsanya, Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Works and Infrastructure, while examining the extent of damage caused by erosion on several roads across the state.
Akinsanya stated that the government was aware of the difficulties that people, particularly road users, were facing.
“The rainy season has arrived, and we are well aware of the challenges it poses to our roads.”
“However, the government is monitoring the situation and is already putting adequate palliative measures in place to arrest the menace,”
Mowe – Ofada in Obafemi Local Government, the second lane of Adatan – More junction in Abeokuta South Local Government, and Akute – Alagbole in Ifo Local Government Area are among the routes identified.
He stated that the indicated roads, as well as others, will be given due care as soon as the rain stops.
Akinsanya stated that sections of the Ijoko-Akute route are now being rebuilt in stages.
He reminded residents of the state that their well-being and welfare remain the state government’s top concern, adding that Governor Abiodun is steadfast in his commitment to enhancing not only the state’s economic viability but also the citizenry’s quality of life.
