Former presidential adviser Reno Omokri has lambasted the Anambra State government for establishing a panel to probe the scandal surrounding Ejikeme Mmesoma’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result.

Mmesoma has been in the spotlight since the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) denied her claim to be the highest-scoring candidate in the 2023 UTME.

JAMB declared she scored 249 in the exam, not the 362 she claimed, but the candidate responded with a video in which she stood firm.

In the midst of the controversy, Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo formed a committee to investigate the matter.

In response to the committee’s report, Omokri claimed in a Saturday Twitter post that the government should not have gone so far to investigate what had been proven to be a lie.

“Why would the Anambra State Government convene a high-powered committee comprised of Professors and PhDs to investigate Mmesoma Ejikeme’s JAMB result?” he said. The end result is plainly a forgery. The owner of the exam center where she took the exam (Osita Chidoka) has admitted that it is suspect. During her Channels TV interview, the girl (better appropriately, WOMAN) admitted as much.

“JAMB does not defraud Anambra State.” They have done an outstanding job in this area. They produced documentation evidence to demonstrate to any objective observer that this is a case of pure criminality, devoid of ethnic bias. Anambra State is defrauding itself by squandering human and material resources on a deception. They should no longer argue that their federal allocation is insufficient. They definitely have a lot of money! This is what happens when you turn a criminal case into an ethnic one.

“JAMB also accused residents of Kaduna, Osun, Lagos, and Oyo states of fraud.” Those who fled to hide and bury their heads in shame knew that their ethnic groups and states will not tolerate their criminality. Mmesoma, on the other hand, was brave because she knew she would be supported.

“What’s the harm?” She has already witnessed how the owners of structurally deficient structures at Alaba market received assistance solely on the basis of their race, despite being warned since 2017. She witnessed how some Nigerians utilized their ethnicity to stymie Nigerians’ evacuation efforts in Sudan. So she had enough instances to feel secure in her ability to get away with it.

“And she is correct. Instead of being humiliated, she is being sheltered by the Anambra State Government. The same Anambra State Government that did not form a high-powered panel of inquiry to find out who was behind the killings of @USinNigeria embassy staff in Anambra on May 16, 2023, or to find out who killed a pregnant Northern Muslim woman, Harira Jubril, and her four underage daughters, Fatima 9 years, Khadija 7 years, Hadiza 5 years, and Zaituna 2 years, were crudely murdered in cold blood on the streets

“If I were the Governor of Anambra, the first high-powered committee I would form would be a committee of Anambra’s brightest and most brilliant minds to investigate how to end the threat of IPOB’s Monday Sit-at-Home, which costs my state billions of Naira every week, as well as the malaise of insecurity caused by unknown gunmen.”

“But no. Anambra State has no time for that. Their money and labor would be better spent forming a committee of scholars to analyze a JAMB result whose falsity can be detected in less than five minutes!”
