Remember that Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed were the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the February 25 election.

The LP and its candidates have filed a tribunal challenge to the election results.

The Obi-Datti Party condemned recent events involving the courts in a statement issued by Diran Onifade, chairman of the Obi-Datti media office.

According to Onifade, “agents of retrogression” are orchestrating the campaign of slander against the bench and bar in order to “distract and defocus the judiciary from its critical national assignment.”

“We find some of the strange happenings around our judiciary lately absolutely unnecessary and utterly unacceptable, beginning with the threat of anarchy and chaos if the ruling party’s candidate is legally removed by the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).”

“The allegations of a telephone conversation between the esteemed Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukoyade Ariwoola, with some persons, which the Supreme Court has since denied, and, most recently, the bizarre fake news claiming that one of the panelists at the ongoing hearing before the PEPC had resigned,” the statement said.

The administration also stated that these diversions should not be placed on the judiciary.

“It is undeniable that the outcome of the judiciary’s assignment is linked to the future of this country.” “Every hand must be on deck to assist them in steering the ship of the Nigerian state away from perdition,” the declaration adds.

“As a result, the Obi-Datti Media Office wishes to appeal to all patriots who want to see a new Nigeria to refrain from any action that may impede their Lordships’ delivery of justice.”

“Relatedly, we’d like to use this medium to tell these rogue Troll and Fog Machine agents to stop trying to slander or entrap Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed with whatever ruse they’re using.

“At least seven failed fake demarketing and discrediting campaigns against our principals come to mind.”

“We are especially concerned about plans to escalate these desperate acts ahead of the PEPC decision.” Nigerians must not be taken in by such deep, phony, and dubious ploys in the name of partisan politics.

“While we continue to appreciate our security agencies’ efforts to secure Nigeria, we implore them to ensure that our principals’ persons, movement, and properties are safe and secure as they go about their public and private endeavors.”

“As a result, the Obi-Datti media office wishes to call on all patriots who want to see a new Nigeria to refrain from any action that may impede the delivery of justice by their Lordships or other forms of nefarious activities that may heat up the national polity,” the office stated.
