Star Player Suspended for 10 Games (See Why)

The Scottish Football Association has given Kilmarnock forward Kyle Lafferty a ten-match suspension for making a sectarian remark to a spectator.

The 35-year-old was caught on camera saying the thing after being asked to pose for a picture in a bar.

The attacker from Northern Ireland will now sit out Kilmarnock’s League Cup semifinal matchup with Celtic in January.

Lafferty said, “I want to sincerely apologize to the club, supporters, and my family for the grief caused.

“I fully accept that my response to the situation was utterly inappropriate.

“There is no justification; I immediately regretted it and have been ashamed ever since.

I fully acknowledge that I shouldn’t have reacted to provoking behavior in that way.
