Ryan Gravenberch, a midfielder for Bayern Munich, has been signed by Liverpool for a reported £34.3m (40m euros).
The Dutch international, who is now 21 years old, moved to the German champions from Ajax last summer but has had trouble breaking into the starting lineup.
Gravenberch has only appeared in one game this season as a substitute.
Liverpool hopes to sign him before the transfer deadline on Friday after being linked to him all summer.
The Reds have bolstered their midfield with the additions of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo so far this summer.
