Posted by Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, has congratulated Amas Obasogie, the goalkeeper for Bendel Insurance, on being invited to the Super Eagles.
In a message posted on his X account, Obaseki claimed that the Benin Arsenal goalkeeper, by placing the state on the map worldwide, had demonstrated an unwavering Edo mentality.
When Maduka Okoye of Uganda withdrew from the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Zimbabwe and Lesotho, Obasogie took over as goalie.
Obaseki emphasized the 23-year-old’s outstanding play during Bendel Insurance’s 26-game winning streak in the previous campaign and insisted that the call-up is a success for the state’s ongoing investment in the sports industry.

On Thursday, November 16, Nigeria will play Lesotho at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
On November 16, the Super Eagles will take on Zimbabwe.
