Shehu Sani: Na’abba has blocked the removal of government and presidential term limitations from the constitution

According to Shehu Sani, a socio-political analyst, the late Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Umar Na’abba, term limits for governors and Presidents were abolished.

Sani claimed that if it hadn’t been for Na’abba, term restrictions for governors and presidents would have been removed from the Nigerian constitution.

The former member stated on X that the deceased defended the honor of the parliament.

“Hon Ghali Umar Na’abba, Ex-Speaker House of Representatives,” he wrote. He had a successful life.

“He saved Nigeria’s democracy at a critical juncture.” He protected and safeguarded the parliament’s honor and independence.

“Without Ghali’s courage and principles, term limits for Governors and Presidents would have been removed from our constitution.” Ghali advocated for justice and liberty.

On Wednesday, the former Speaker of the House of Assembly died.

He died on Wednesday morning, at the age of 65, at the National Hospital in Abuja, following a brief illness.
