JANESCOPE has learned that Ekpa, the leader of the Auto Pilot branch of the secessionist group, has continued to order his adherents to enforce a sit-at-home policy in the Southeast region, restricting economic activity in the region.

Meanwhile, the Upper House resolved on Wednesday to invite the Minister of Foreign Affairs (when appointed) and key stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive investigation and bring other sponsors of the act to justice.

The unlawful order was issued in 2021 to press home calls for the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, who is being held by the Department of State Services (DSS) and charged with terrorism-related offenses.

In July 2023, the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, stated that the Monday sit-in costs his state more than N10 billion.
