According to the Daily Star, Manchester City is willing to nearly quadruple Erling Haaland’s salaries in order to stave off interest from Real Madrid.
The Norwegian is currently making £375,000 per week, tying Kevin De Bruyne for the highest salary at the Etihad.
However, City is keen in extending a contract offer that would pay him £600,000 a week.
Haaland, at 23, has a contract with the Premier League champions that runs through 2027.
Riyad Mahrez has decided to leave the Treble champions for the Middle East this summer, and City is well aware of the money on offer in Saudi Arabia as well as in Madrid.
With an annual salary of £32.5m, Haaland’s new contract puts him on track to become one of the highest-paid players in football.
