Authorities verify the kidnapping of an A’Ibom High Court judge

Judge Joy Uwana of the High Court and her driver were taken in the state’s Oron Local Government Area, according to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.

Along with her driver, the judge was kidnapped on Monday; her police orderly was slain in the attack on the Uyo-Okobo route.

The state’s police command spokesperson, SP Odiko Macdon, confirmed the incident to NAN on Tuesday in Uyo.

He claimed that in order to find the kidnappers and guarantee the judge’s and her driver’s safe release, the police had started an inquiry.

“The report has been received by the Command; it is a truly horrible and heinous act. Olatoye Durosinmi, the Commissioner of Police, has directed a thorough investigation into the situation, and we are working on it.

“We have been working on it nonstop today, and we won’t stop at nothing to make sure she gets back to her family.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the judge’s slain officer who was brutally killed. This is not what Akwa Ibom is known for, which is really terrible, Macdon remarked.

He advised residents of the state to carry on with their daily activities and gave them his word that those responsible for the horrible crime will face consequences.

According to Macdon, in order to maintain calm in the state, the police command will keep working along with sister security organizations.
