Nine months after his suspension by his country’s federation during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the news has finally been made public.

After 12 years with United, David De Gea finally decided to leave the club, and in July, Inter Milan’s 27-year-old goalkeeper Onana signed with United.

After being suspended for “disciplinary reasons,” likely due to a disagreement with Cameroon coach Rigobert Song, Onana declared his retirement from international play.

The former Ajax star might make a U-turn and play for Ivory Coast in the 2019 African Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by the country in January and February. The match, scheduled for September 12, is a winner-take-all Group C qualifier.
