Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, a popular Canadian singer, has been named the world’s most popular artist by Guinness World Records.
The singer also set two new Spotify records: most monthly Spotify listeners – 111.4 million (as of 20 March 2023), and first artist to reach 100 million monthly Spotify listeners.
The Weeknd currently has nearly 30 million more monthly listeners than Miley Cyrus (82.4 million).
He also has a sizable lead over Shakira (81.6 million), Ariana Grande (80.6 million), Taylor Swift (80.2 million), Rihanna (78.5 million), and Ed Sheeran, his closest male rival (77.5 million).
He recently joined Michael Jackson as the only artist to have three albums with multiple number one songs.
