The Police Commission sets up a situation room to monitor the recruitment exercise

The head of the Police Service Commission, Dr Solomon Arase, stated that the commission has established a situation room to supervise the continuing recruitment process.

Ikechukwu Ani, the commission’s head of Press and Public Relations, said in a statement that former Inspector General of Police Arase presided over the establishment of the recruiting situation room at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Arase reportedly stated: “Despite the usual early teething problems, reports from the Commission’s team lead in the states confirmed that the exercise was up and running.” The Commission is in charge of screening credentials, while Nigerian Police Force officials are in charge of physical security.”

According to the statement, officers from the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Federal Character Commission, the Police Trust Fund, and police colleges are also present at the events.

The screening exercise is the first formal encounter between candidates, commission officers, and police.

Arase also praised the collaboration among the institutions that comprise the Police Recruitment Board, promising that the commission will guarantee the entire procedure is a success.

Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission has established dedicated phone lines and social media channels for Nigerians to protest or seek information about the ongoing recruitment process.

“The screening exercise continues tomorrow, Tuesday, January 9th, 2024,” the message read.
