The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Abutu Yaro, has fired Divisional Police Officer of Auchi Division, Ayodele Suleiman, for reportedly shooting a suspect detained for attacking the vehicle of General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman.
The debriefing for the suspended DPO will take place at the state police command.
According to a statement by the command’s deputy public relations officer, Jennifer Iwegbu, the DPO’s departure was one of the steps taken to determine what exactly happened to cause one of the suspects to pass away.
“With immediate effect, the outgoing CP now AIG Abutu Yaro has ordered the withdrawal of CSP Ayodele Suleiman and DPO Auchi for debriefing at the State Headquarters.”
He urged the general public to maintain their composure and promised to look into every aspect of the incident’s circumstances.
Earlier, janescope had stated that Apostle Suleman had asserted that the security agency had allegedly slain the suspect who had been detained by vigilantes and turned over to the police.
In a tweet on his Twitter account, the priest said that the police were attempting to destroy any evidence that would help identify his assailants.
