Taraba State’s government has announced a one-time N50,000 medical allowance, a N25,000 accommodation allowance each term, and a monthly N10,000 stipend for members of the National Youth Service Corps in the state.
Zainab Usman, the Taraba State Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, announced the news in a statement on Sunday.
She explained that NYSC members assigned to schools will receive a N50,000 medical allowance.
According to her, the governor also authorized N25,000 as a term accommodation allowance and N10,000 as monthly state government support.
She stated that the governor granted the permission because of the significant increase in school enrollment as a result of the government’s declaration of free basic education, uniforms, and other learning materials.
“The surge in new enrollments witnessed in our primary and secondary schools over the past ten working days has necessitated immediate action,” Usman remarked.
The Federal Government now pays NYSC participants a monthly allowance of N33,000 in accordance with the national minimum wage, which President Buhari signed into law on April 18, 2019.
Following the termination of the country’s gasoline subsidy, workers in Nigeria expect a reassessment of the present minimum wage.
