Senator Stella Oduah, a former Aviation Minister, and others pleaded not guilty on Friday to a N5 billion fraud accusation brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to JANESCOPE, the anti-graft agency arraigned the former minister on a 25-count charge ranging from conspiracy to money laundering and maintaining anonymous bank accounts with First Bank Plc totaling N5 billion under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
After hearing their appeal, Justice Ekwo directed that the matter be turned over to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), adding that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission should send the case file to the AGF within two weeks.
Gloria Odita, Nwosu Emmanuel Nnamdi, and Chukwuma Irene Chinyere were arrested alongside the ex-lawmaker, who represented Anambra North Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly.
Global Offshore and Marine Ltd, Tip Top Global Resources Ltd, Crystal Television Ltd, Sobora International Ltd, and more are among the others.
While affirming the EFCC’s existing administrative bail conditions, the court also ordered that the terms of the requirements be made available to the AGF.
The matter was later adjourned for trial on October 17, 2023, by the court.
