After being abruptly removed from the national team due to a reported difficult relationship with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has now spoken up about the matter.

The 41-year-old bemoaned being treated like a “piece of used material” by the Nigerian football regulatory body.

When asked if he believed his abrupt departure had anything to do with the drastic decline in the Super Eagles goalkeeping unit, Enyeama responded, “Sincerely, I’ve not been following Nigerian football right from the day I left [resigned from the national team],” in a recent interview with Hot Sports NG. And I was handled like a piece of discarded material, with all due respect.

I thereby built a barrier separating myself and the national team. I’m starting to understand what’s going on now. However, I genuinely stopped watching the national football team. I was really wounded. I have, however, moved. Since I’m not watching, I can’t really comment on the national team or the goalkeeping.

According to the Janescope, Enyeama left the national squad in October 2015 following a reported falling out with several of the top football administrators in the nation.
