Azeez Adeshina Fashola, better known by his stage name Naira Marley, has stated that he will surrender to authorities in order to be investigated for his alleged involvement in the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, nicknamed Mohbad, so long as they ensure his safety.

JANESCOPE remembers that there have been requests for an investigation into Mohbad’s death due to allegations that she sponsored hoodlums to abuse and threaten the late musician after he left his record company, Marlian Music, in a controversial manner in 2022.

Naira Marley said he was willing to cooperate with investigators if his safety was ensured during an interview with Reno Omokri on Wednesday night.

He claimed he left the nation on August 31, 2023, and that he learned of Mohbad’s passing through social media.

He explained, “I have not been in Nigeria since August 31.” Up until this point, I’ve been living with my folks. That’s one reason why I haven’t visited Nigeria since that time.

“Two, He [Mohbad] has moved on from Marlian Music ever since… I can’t give you an exact year, but he hasn’t been with Marlian Music since at least 2022. We haven’t done anything to prevent him from releasing music. Since then, he has only worked for one public relations business.

The news of his passing came as a great shock to me. Even I had to leave the country. So, I, along with everyone else, need to figure out what went wrong with him. So, I had to go online to find out what was wrong with him. I, too, am aware of all the deception. But the question we must ask is: who was he with? What caused his demise?

“How did I kill him if you’re going to blame me?” Nothing about his death was my fault. When I found out that, I was devastated. There’s absolutely no connection between his death and me.

Naira Marley said, “If the police can guarantee my safety, I am willing to return to Nigeria to answer questions.”

“I’m not a part of any weird cult. My understanding of cults is lacking. I’ve been trying to get away from everyone. I strongly oppose cults.

The death of Mohbad is being investigated by the police.

The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced that he has invited the Department of State Services to participate in the probe.
