Plateau State civil servants have claimed that the government must pay the remainder of their February and March salaries in order for the strike to be called off.

Mr Eugene Manji, the state chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, said this on Wednesday in Jos, the state capital.

On May 11, civil servants went on indefinite strike in response to the government’s inability to accept their requests for salaries and other benefits.

However, Manji stated that the strike will be called off once workers began getting their agreed-upon salary.

“It eventually agreed to pay, but only after the verification of the actual civil service staff strength,” Manji told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.

“If, following verification, we determine a willingness and commitment to pay, we will meet with the workers and consider suspending the strike.”

“We are monitoring the screening, which began on Tuesday, and if our members begin to receive their bank credit alerts as promised by the government, we will call a meeting.”
