Khadija “Bunny” Shaw, a forward for Manchester City Women, has shared the background of her “Davido celebration” with Chloe Kelly during last month’s Manchester Derby.
The Janescope remembers that in November, after City defeated United 3-1 at Old Trafford, Shaw joined Kelly in performing the “Unavailable” dance by Nigerian singer Davido.
The Jamaican striker gave an explanation of how her now-viral “Davido celebration” came to be in a recent interview with Sky Sports.
“I attended the PFA Awards, and Davido was there,” the woman remarked. Sure enough, he did perform. “I’m feeling this dance,” I say to Alex as I touch him. I knew you could do it. She thus kept saying, “You got it,” throughout. I attempted to perform the dance, but it was not successful. She said, “Okay, you need more practise.” I didn’t want to walk out and seem foolish, so I would practise in the bathroom to make sure I got it.
Chloe often seems to be the first member of the squad to pick up a new dance or song. And I thought, “Chloe, what do I look like?” Look me over. And she said, “Alright, you got it.” I mean, what do you know? If we both scored, that would be awesome; we could do that at the Manchester Derby game. And then I scored, but I was so caught up in the moment that I forgot all about it. After that, I felt Chloe touch me, and she immediately began to perform the “Unavailable” dance, so I followed suit. It became viral, I believe, and Davido shared it.
