The Magpies’ plane left Newcastle two hours and twenty minutes late, heading to northern Italy.

Pre-match news conferences must be held between 12pm and 8pm local time on the day before a UEFA match.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe blamed the weather for his team’s tardy arrival at the San Siro.

Howe stated that the plane waited on the runway for close to two hours before finally taking off.

The press conference in Newcastle started at 9 o’clock at night, two hours after its original start time.
