Arteta reveals new injury ahead of Lens match

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that Fabio Vieira would be out for several weeks following groin surgery.

Vieira was absent from training ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Lens.

Arteta has now stated that the 23-year-old will be sidelined for some time.

Due to a suspension, the Portugal midfielder missed Arsenal’s Premier League match against Brentford at the weekend, but he is likely to return against Lens.

“We have an issue with him. “He’s been in some pain,” Arteta told reporters.

“He wasn’t improving, so we took him to a specialist, who advised us to have surgery, which we did yesterday.” We expect him to be out for several weeks.”
