Posted by Popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has asked for the Lekki Tollgate to be renamed in honor of those who lost their lives on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
On Thursday, Ekubo announced this in a post on his official Instagram account.
Remember how, precisely two years ago, killings at the Lekki Tollgate, purportedly carried out by the Nigerian Army to quell young protests against police brutality, sent the entire country into mourning?
During the #EndSARS protest that took place two years ago, Ekubo uploaded images from the demonstration against police violence.
He stated:
We won’t ever forget this day, dear Nigerian government. 20 – 10 – 20. We’ll pay it forward. The sacrifices made by our forefathers won’t go in vain.
“I continue to believe that Lekki Toll Plaza ought to be renamed Lekki Memorial Way and should never charge tolls. We made a full payment with our blood.
