This was revealed by Okochja at a recent meeting with the state’s traditional rulers, during which he confirmed that President Bola Tinubu’s 2024 financial allocation for the NDDC will include a 200 percent increase, which would aid in addressing the infrastructural difficulties facing Niger Delta communities.

According to my research, Rivers State ranks second among the states with abandoned projects. 953 NDDC projects have been abandoned in Rivers State. These initiatives were spread throughout the entire state, he said.

Boma Iyaye, the NDDC Executive Director of Finance and Administration, has previously revealed the commission’s 2024 budget will climb by 200 percent.

“The Niger Delta region has been granted N300 billion by the Federal Government.” That is a significant change from the past. In 2024, it has increased from roughly N100 billion to N300 billion for the entire region, compared to our previous estimate of N109 billion,” he stated.
