The Federal Government agency tasked with developing indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for Overseas MSc and PhD scholarships to specific programs at selected institutions through its PTDF Overseas Scholarship Scheme for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The PTDF Overseas Scholarship Plan was created to provide students with the chance to benefit from a diverse reservoir of knowledge as well as the facilities provided by world-class universities around the world.

Candidates are asked to apply to specific programs at partner institutions through the PTDF. The scholarship covers airplane tickets, health insurance, and payment of tuition and bench fees.

The PTDF International Scholarship Programme Prerequisites
Applications for the 2023/2024 award will be confined to PTDF partner universities in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia where the scholarship’s high standards may be maintained and the scheme’s objectives are best achieved.
PTDF scholarships are highly competitive, and only students who excel in all areas are chosen.

Based on the qualifications given, the top applicants from each state will be asked for an interview, where a selection committee will be formed to evaluate applications using the following criteria:

Academic merit as shown by the quality of degrees, full-time employment

academic transcripts and other professional credentials obtained
Relevant books to be cited by the applicant (PhD applicants only)
Membership in professional organizations
The study/research plan’s viability.
MSc Prerequisites

A minimum of a Second Class Upper (2.1) certificate in their first degree or a Second Class Lower (2.2) qualification along with appropriate industry experience
Must have completed the required National Service for Young People (NYSC)
Computer literacy is required.

5 O/level credits required, including English Language and Mathematics.
Statement of purpose (maximum 500 words) outlining the reason(s) for the proposed study, its industry significance, and its predicted influence on national development.

Before applying for the scholarship, applicants must have a National Identification Number (NIN), and verification will be necessary (NIMC verification fees apply).
PhD Prerequisites

Must have finished the compulsory National Youth Service (NYSC)
Computer literacy is required.
A first-degree certificate with a minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) and a good second-degree certificate
A five-page study proposal pertinent to the oil and gas business that includes the following:
Title\Introduction
Aim of the Research Problem
Questions/Objectives for Research

Technique of Scope Summarized Literature
Expected outcomes are only used when they are absolutely essential.
All lecturers must present a letter from their Vice Chancellors verifying that they do not hold any other scholarships (if shortlisted)

First First Degree Certificate or Outcome Statement
The NYSC discharge certificate WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results, as well as the PINs on the application forms, will allow PTDF to access the O’level results on the relevant website.
Master’s Degree Certificate Recent Passport Photograph Local Government Identity Letter (PhD Applicants only)
