Iwobi stated that the Super Eagles players had to fly for four hours straight to play Zimbabwe, claiming that this was too much for Jose Peseiro’s team.

Following the match, the Fulham player and Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro spoke at the post-match press conference.

The former Everton and Arsenal player and the manager had similar opinions about how the team was impacted by the trip.

As a player, Iwobi stated, “We should not use the fact that we had to fly for four hours and then take a three-hour coach down here after the game [against Lesotho] as an excuse. He [Jose Peseiro] has already said that the travel was a lot for us.”

“We have a lot of quality on the side and we are sufficiently professional.”

In the Group C matchday 2 encounter, Walter Musona and Kelechi Iheanacho scored goals for their respective clubs.

Nigeria’s next World Cup qualifying match is scheduled for June 3, 2024, with South Africa.
