The Northern Coalition of Socio-political Groups has denounced the call for the removal of the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Defense Staff, and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Nigerian Army’s 1st Division.

Such a demand was seen as creating needless stress.

The group’s deputy national president, Alhaji Balarabe Lawal Zaria, made this statement in response to the mistaken bombing that left many people dead in the Tudun-Biri region of Kaduna State.

Zaria made a plea for peace while speaking to reporters on Friday at the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ (NUJ) Kaduna State Secretariat.

In a statement, he said, “Nigerians have expressed concern over the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, visiting the families of the deceased and the injured in Kaduna hospitals.”

To “determine what exactly happened,” the organization, however, insisted on a full, transparent, and honest probe of the incident.

In order to prevent another airstrike on a community, it recommended the military to reassess its rules of engagement.

He said that as long as the circumstances surrounding the bombing are still being investigated, it is inappropriate for anyone to assign an ethnic or religious significance to the occurrence.
