Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, has pledged that he will continue to support Muhammadu Buhari after the president’s term ends in 2023.
Having complimented Buhari for his contributions to and efforts in repositioning Nigeria, Tinubu declared that he had always backed him before he was elected president and that he would continue to do so once his term is through.
Speaking on Tuesday during the ongoing three-day ministerial retreat for Ministers and Permanent Secretaries in Abuja, the former governor of Lagos State made the argument.
After “years of maladministration,” according to Tinubu, Buhari “put Nigeria on the correct path,” according to a statement from his media office signed by Tunde Rahman.
In both his political and personal life, Tinubu pledged to support Buhari as a friend and ally.
“Thank you, President Buhari, and may I thank your entire administration, which is being represented by everyone here today, on behalf of all Nigerians.
“Before you ever took office, we helped you. Even after you leave your position, I will continue to be your friend and ally.
“I am able to say this because I am aware of your goals for Nigeria. It is a positive and admirable one.
I am aware of how devotedly you have served this country with patriotism. I am aware of what you have accomplished.
“Permit me to say this for you and your entire team: the work you have done is significant and lasting.
Nobody can take those accomplishments away from you, no matter how hard they try.
But the unselfish worker’s fate is to toil too long and hard to create his own tale. Instead of drawing attention to himself, he would like to accomplish things for the greater benefit.
