The NCP has so merged its institutions with the LP after endorsing the former Anambra governor for president.

The party claimed that it chose to support Obi because of his ability to take Nigeria to its desired destination in Enugu State over the weekend.

In addition to endorsing Obi, NCP national chairman Tanko Yinusa pledged to mobilize all of his party’s members and supporters to vote for the Labour Party nominee nationally.

We both have the same ideology and manifesto, according to Tanko, who also added that Peter Obi has what it takes to win our party’s faith and confidence. This is the reason why they have collapsed their structure for LP.

The endorsement comes a few weeks after the Nigeria Presidential Project (NPP) 2023, together with a number of other illustrious Nigerians including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, announced their support for the LP flag-bearer.

NCP was established in 1994, but it wasn’t allowed to run for office until it won a legal battle in 2003. In that year’s presidential election, the party’s nominee, Gani Fawehinmi, received 161,333 votes, placing him in fifth place.
