After the explosion in Tudun Biri, Yar’Adua rejects calls for the resignation of the COAS

Senator Abdul’aziz Yar’Adua, the head of the Senate Committee on Army, has stated that the Chief of Army Staff should not be asked to step down in response to the unintentional drone assault that left numerous Kaduna people dead.

To him, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s resignation was not justified because the attack was an honest error.

In an exclusive interview with Channels Television on Wednesday, he made this statement and praised the Chief of Army Staff for owning up to his error.

The senator was responding to the Northern Elders Forum’s demand that senior military officials resign in light of the tragedy.

According to the Janescope, the event occurred on Sunday at Tudun Biri village in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where at least 85 locals lost their lives and several more were injured.

The senator also recommended that the Kaduna State Government instruct Muslims to notify the government of any large gatherings in the state so that security may be bolstered to prevent future incidents of this nature.
