He said that recent rumors were spread by dishonest people looking to take advantage of naive job-seekers.

He claimed the Nigerian Navy had not distributed an invitation to training through text message or made public a list of those who had been selected.

It is quite concerning that dishonest people are spreading so much false information about joining the Navy.

The perpetrators are being hunted down and apprehended at this time.

Anyone interested in joining the Nigerian Navy is urged to only trust information they find on the navy’s official website (https://www.navy.mil.ng) or other official social media handles, as well as credible mainstream media outlets.

“Similarly, miscreants and mischief makers are warned to desist from this unwholesome practice, otherwise they will face the full wrath of the law,” he added.

According to Ayo-Vaughan, the text message purportedly invited the selected applicants to report to NNBTS Onne, Rivers, for military training.

He further mentioned that the thieves claimed in the text that the drill will start on October 6. (NAN)
