The Lagos Police Command has given Area Commanders and DPOs the responsibility of ensuring maximum safety

DCP Waheed Ayilara, who is serving as Acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, has issued an order to all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the state, instructing them to maintain the highest possible level of safety within their own jurisdictions.

This information was provided in a statement that was released by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, on Friday in Lagos.

According to the statement, Ayilara issued the decision during a strategic discussion with the officers and other heads of department in the command before the holiday season began.

During the course of the meeting, the acting Chief of Police went over the distribution of human, material, and operational resources, focusing in particular on the areas of the state that had been recognized as strategic and vulnerable.

In the performance of their jobs, he instructed the cops to maintain a professional demeanor while yet being courteous and forceful.

Ayilara assuaged the public’s concerns by assuring them that the measures that were implemented will be continuously monitored and evaluated as necessary.

In the same vein, he admonished the locals to keep a watchful eye out for any suspicious goings-on and to immediately report them to the police station that is located closest to them.

The interim head of the police department expressed confidence that the state will continue to maintain everyone’s safety and security prior to, during, and after the holiday season as a result of the combined efforts of the police and the community.
