Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has bemoaned the expenditure of “trillions” of Naira on insecurity by former President Muhammadu Buhari and the security officials of the near past.

According to Sani, Buhari continued to extend the terms of the previous security chiefs who were from the North, despite their inability to stop the evil in the area.

He said this while pointing out that President Bola Tinubu can be criticized by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) for the security condition in the area.

Sani posted the following on X: “Northern Leaders have the constitutional right to criticize the President and hold him accountable on the security situation in the North; however, it’s too early to forget that all of the country’s key security and defense positions were held by Northerners for eight years, during which time they were unable to put an end to the terrible problem of killings and kidnappings in the regions. The President at the time continued to extend their term in office as trillions of dollars were squandered in vain.

Remember that on Sunday, while the villagers were enjoying the Maulud celebration in Tudun Diri, Kaduna State, a military drone accidentally murdered a few of them?

The military acknowledged that an intelligence blunder had caused the inaccuracy in the wake of the tragedy and the outcry that followed.

However, Tinubu’s actions, words, and body language all indicated that he is not concerned in security, according to Usman Yusuf, a chieftain of the NEF.

He had declared, “Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our President and Commander-in-Chief, does not seem interested in security based on his words, actions, and body language.” He has planted his people, and all he cares about is the economy, where all the money is. He seems irritated by security, banditry, and other things.

The president doesn’t seem to be actively involved in our security. Our military has gone rogue, raining bombs on our people, and it is not accountable to anyone. It is not overseen by civilian authority.
