The command states that a conspicuous police presence at different places of worship and event centers is part of the operating strategy.

A press release from the Abia State Police Command stated that “there will be raids on recognized high-risk areas, unfinished structures, stop-and-search operations, vehicular/foot patrols, and collaborative efforts among sister security agencies in the state,” and it was signed by ASP Maureen Chinaka, the Commissioner of Police’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO).

The statement further reaffirmed that, due to possible risks to public safety and security, the state’s ban on the sale or use of knockout fireworks has been reiterated by Police Commissioner Kenechukwu Onwuemelie.

It was highlighted that, especially during the harmattan season, the usage of fire crackers has the potential to divert attention, open doors for criminal activity, and result in fire incidents.
