Nigeria’s bid for an international feature film is rejected

The prospect of a Nigerian film winning the International Feature Film Oscar at the 2024 Academy Awards has been shattered as the nominee for the prize did not make the cut.

The winner of the Sundance Festival, “Mami Wata,” has been nominated by the Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) to compete in the 96th Academy Awards’ International Feature Film (IFF) category.

But once the 15 countries’ nominated films were released, the movie didn’t quite work out.

On its page, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the winners’ shortlists.

The 96th Academy Awards will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation in Hollywood to more than 200 countries worldwide on Sunday, March 10, 2024.
