According to the Nigerian Tribune, the event occurred three days ago and was linked to the operations of a local vigilance squad in the Igbomina Kwara axis aimed at addressing security concerns in the area.

The victims of the lightning strike were believed to be members of an eight-man kidnapping ring that allegedly operated in Iwo, Osun state, some two weeks ago.

In response to the event, the state police Commissioner, CP Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi, stated that the Command and its officers had already begun an inquiry.
