The usage of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the electronic transmission of results are still being planned, the Independent National Electoral Commission assured Nigerians on Tuesday.

INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said the commission is resolved to use the BVAS technology for the conduct of a free, fair, credible, and transparent election while speaking to participants in Abuja at a training of master trainers on technologies for the 2023 general elections.

Prof. Yakubu also urged political parties and their candidates to abstain from using violence in their campaigns.

The INEC Chairman’s assurances came in the midst of rumors that there were efforts to sway how technology would be used in the general elections of 2023.
