In Ilorin, authorities found the body of a man who had been washed away by floodwaters

A 47-year-old man was found dead on Wednesday after being washed away by floodwaters on Monday in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

In a statement released in Ilorin on Wednesday, Hassan Adekunle, spokesman for the State Fire Service, said that the unnamed man had been swept away by torrential water after a strong downpour on Monday evening.

An unnamed 47-year-old man was sadly lost in the raging waters on September 27, 2023, and his body was found today.

“At around 9:11 a.m. today, the Kwara State Fire Service responded to a distress call from one Mr. Saheed.

“Thanks to their persistent efforts, the dead corpse of the man was brought to shore from the choppy waters near the Oloje Bridge in Oloje, Ilorin’s G’ Division Police Station.

The statement went on to say that the retrieved body was handed over to the Environmental Officer of Ilorin West Local Government, Mr. Saka Abdulkareem, in a “formal and compassionate handover.”

Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, director of the Kwara State Fire Service, expressed his sorrow over the occurrence and advised the public to exercise greater caution in their daily lives and refrain from traveling during rainstorms.
