In-form Awoniyi aims for African goals record in the Premier League

When Nottingham Forest play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (today), Taiwo Awoniyi will be aiming for a major milestone.

If Awoniyi scores against the Blues, he will become the first African player in Premier League history to score in eight straight games.

The 26-year-old’s goal in the second minute against Manchester United last weekend made him tied with Emmanuel Adebayor and Mohamed Salah for the all-time record of seven consecutive games in which he scored.

The game ended 3-2, with Nottingham Forest losing despite having a two-goal lead.

The Nigerian national team player has netted nine times in the Premier League over the course of the last seven games.

In May, when Forest played at Stamford Bridge, the forward scored twice.
