Posted by David Onarigu’s election as the Nasarawa State House of Assembly member representing the Udege/Loko Constituency was validated by the National and State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate Onarigu defeated New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) contender Ahmed Tanko in the runoff election.
You may recall that Tanko and his party had challenged the results of the election, arguing that INEC had violated the electoral act by failing to include the NNPP emblem on voting materials.
The petition was rejected by the three-person panel led by Justice Francisca Nnang because the accusations made by the NNPP candidate were without merit.
While delivering the verdict, Justice Nnang emphasized that the NNPP candidate had failed to show his case on the merits.
Justice Nnang stated, “The court hereby dismisses the case in its entirety.”
