The decision was made in response to a concern expressed by the Iraqi Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Anwer Saeed Aljabali, during a courtesy call on Tuesday.

Abbas, who expressed surprise that Nigeria does not currently have a post in Iraq where her residents may seek assistance, said he will discuss the issue with Tuggar in order to resolve it.

According to the Speaker, Iraq is an important country in the international community, which is why efforts must be taken to operationalize the Nigerian mission there.

“I want to assure you that we will look into this matter.” “I will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss how we can resolve the issues so that the Nigerian Mission in Iraq can reopen,” the Speaker stated.

Abbas also reminded the Iraqi ambassador that the 10th House has launched a Parliamentary Friendship Group that will work with the Iraqi parliament to improve bilateral relations.

“We take parliamentary relations with parliaments all over the world seriously.” That is why we established the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Iraqi Parliament. “The chairman of the committee will meet with you shortly,” he said.
