Abba Kabir Yusuf’s loss of Kano can be directly attributed to the day he initiated the careless and haphazard destruction.
He “lost Kano” on the day of the destruction, according to a tweet by Yakasai, since “the only thing they had going into the elections was the support of the Kano metropolitan area.”
On Wednesday, the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Kano ruled that All Progressives Congress candidate Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna had won the Kano governor’s race.
After the tribunal nullified certain votes cast for Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), it rendered its final verdict.
According to the presiding judge, Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadabey, Governor Yusuf did not receive a majority of the vote.
