Gallas compared the Norwegian to the club’s former player Dennis Bergkamp.
He mentioned this while celebrating Odegaard’s new deal with Mikel Arteta’s team.
Odegaard, who signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal after joining from Real Madrid in 2021, just signed a new long-term contract with the Premier League North London team.
“It’s great news that Arsenal has signed Odegaard to a new contract,” Gallas said to Genting Casino.
“He is a playmaker, and he is the player in this Arsenal team who is expected to break open tight matches with his skill.”
“In the Everton game, he produced a magnificent pass for Saka, who then set up Trossard.”
“He is a crucial player for Arsenal.” Arsenal are not the same without him in the lineup.
“I believe Odegaard is comparable to Dennis Bergkamp. He’s not quite on Bergkamp’s level yet – Bergkamp was an incredible Arsenal player – but Odegaard reminds me of him. Odegaard’s quality can make a difference.”
