BUA Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu receives honorary degree, gives over Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre

At the University of Maiduguri’s 24th Combined Convocation, industrialist, philanthropist, and BUA Group and ASR Africa Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu received an Honorary Degree for his contributions to Nigeria’s development, education, and entrepreneurship. The Vice President of Nigeria, Sen Kashim Shettima, was present to commission and hand over the Abdul Samad Rabiu International Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, fully funded and built with a 1 billion Naira donation from his personal foundation, ASR Africa, during the convocation.

The Abdul Samad Rabiu International Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is sophisticated and cutting-edge. Administrative offices, dynamic workstations, creative idea hubs, a canteen, a large library, and an exhibition hall are included. A 150-seater hall for high-profile lectures and academic conferences enhances the University of Maiduguri’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development.

Abdul Samad Rabiu’s incisive speech stressed the center’s role as more than a building. He wanted it to be a creative, entrepreneurial hub.

Rabiu also discussed the ASR International Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s founding, which was based on his belief in education and entrepreneurship’s transforming ability. His 1 billion Naira investment in ASR Africa’s center showed his devotion. “Centers like this are vital for development in a world where economies are rapidly evolving and Nigeria gains hope. These platforms develop future leaders, inventors, and entrepreneurs. We must act, not only learn, Abdul Samad Rabiu said.

ASR Africa MD/CEO Dr. Ubon Udoh stressed the project’s importance in his overview. He noted the center’s potential to boost economic and social growth by providing a global platform for innovative expression and partnering with top international educational and innovation organizations. Dr. Udoh praised Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu for his honorary award, visionary leadership, and commitment to sustainable development in Africa.

The Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima Mustapha (GCON), Governor of Borno State Babagana Umara Zulum, Royal fathers, distinguished guests, and students attended the events at the University of Maiduguri.

ASR Africa was founded in 2021 by African industrialist, philanthropist, and BUA Group Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu to provide sustainable, impact-based, homegrown solutions to health, education, and social development issues in Africa.
